“Friedrich Ebert – Der Weg zur Demokratie” is a cooperative card game that puts players in the role of the first German president. Based on the digital serious game of the same name, which was awarded the German Computer Game Prize in the “Best Serious Game” category in 2024, the analog version enables an interactive experience of German history in the early 20th century.

“Friedrich Ebert - The Road to Democracy” as an analog, cooperative card game

The game is designed for 1 to 4 people aged 12 and over and consists of cards with historical challenges in the form of letters to Friedrich Ebert. Each letter represents a decision-making situation. Players have to weigh up whether to pursue political goals or resolve social tensions. Every decision has consequences and influences the further course of the game. This creates new games that keep the tension high.

Easy to get started, historical reference, high replay value

The card game conveys knowledge about the history of Germany between 1900 and 1925. Historians from the Reichspräsident-Friedrich-Ebert-Gedenkstätte Foundation helped develop the game. This ensures that the historical reference is always retained. A chronicle in the game rules provides additional information. The game is suitable for families, history enthusiasts and also for teaching.

In addition to the basic game, there are additional game modes. These provide variety and make the game interesting even with repeated play. Modules such as “Personal Events” enhance the experience. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced player, there is something for everyone. Fun is guaranteed.

With an average playing time of around 45 minutes, the game is not only entertaining, but also invites you to play repeatedly to try out different strategies.
