Summon spirits of the past and win the sport of the future

The game takes you to a fictional future in which storytelling has become the highest art form. So-called mediums conjure up ghosts and their stories. They compete against each other in sporting challenges. Whoever is faster wins.

SPUUUK is a digital card game that combines a collectible card game and deck builder in a unique 1 vs. 1 vs. 1 setting. SPUUUK is fundamentally different from classic trading card games. Instead of relying on combat mechanics, everything revolves around an exciting race. The focus is on speed and strategy. The unique 1 vs. 1 vs. 1 game mechanics open up new tactical possibilities and ensure exciting rounds of play.

Real stories of (almost) forgotten heroes of the past

SPUUUK focuses on real historical figures and events, which are integrated into the game in the form of themed decks and cards. The aim is to highlight the stories of people and events that are often overshadowed by history.

  • Rosalind Franklin - The biochemist who was instrumental in discovering the structure of DNA, but never received the recognition she deserved.
  • Amelie Beese - The first German female pilot to assert herself at a time when prejudice against women in aviation was widespread. Despite great resistance and attempts at sabotage during her training, she proved her courage and skill.
  • Eugene Lazowski - A Polish doctor who saved around 8,000 Jewish lives during the Second World War with an impressive ruse. Lazowski faked an epidemic with a harmless bacterial injection to protect the region from the German occupiers.
  • Laika - The Russian dog who was the first living creature to be sent into space in 1957 and laid the foundations for manned space travel.

These and many other personalities make SPUUUK a platform that combines education and fun.

Easy to learn, hard to master

Das eigene Deck besteht aus 20 Karten mit insgesamt 5 Geistern. Jeder Geist besteht also aus 4 Karten.

From the selection of characters and the decks of cards associated with them to the exciting spirit summoning phase, SPUUUK is designed to be enjoyed by beginners and experienced players alike. The basic rules are simple. It is based on a self-developed analog trading card game with several expansions. The experience gained from this game has naturally also flowed into the development of SPUUUK. At the same time, the game offers strategic depth. Each card in the game has a unique ability that can influence your strategy. Clever card play and proper planning are the keys to success.

The prototype and the vision

SPUUUK combines fun with knowledge and encourages players to engage with history, society and politics. The unique cards and mechanics provide access to topics that are often forgotten. The result is not only entertainment, but also an educational value that makes SPUUUK something very special. The prototype shows the vision behind SPUUUK and offers a first impression of the mechanics and the unique concept of the game. It includes:

  • A tutorial for beginners
  • Single matches and a championship mode
  • 5 factions with individual card decks
  • German and English language versions

We are working passionately to develop SPUUUK into a fully-fledged publication. In the long term, we want to:

  • Add a deck builder that allows you to customize your deck to your playing preferences.
  • Development of new cards, decks and expansions.
  • Implementation of a multiplayer mode that also allows local tournaments to take place in order to strengthen the exchange between players.

With SPUUUK, we at Playing History have launched our first major digital in-house production - a game that not only entertains, but also contributes to subtle historical education. Thanks to funding from the Games funding from the federal government we were able to develop a playable prototype that makes the core idea of the game tangible.
