Our answers to frequently asked questions

Can Playing History realize our game idea?

Yes, our focus is on the production of playful and didactic formats (analog, digital, hybrid), from the initial brainstorming to the final release. Our strength is the collaborative partnership between us as a production studio and you as the content experts. We do not simply implement, but work with you to develop and realize the idea.

Can every subject be realized in a game?

Yes, we at Playing History are convinced that games are the best medium for education and communication. However, playing games does not mean not taking the subject seriously. Our latest games and their reception prove that any topic can be treated reverently and sensitively in a game. One example is “Traces on Paper”, which is appropriately dedicated to the topic of “euthanasia”.

Does Playing History reject requests?

Yes, Playing History is not an agency that fulfills every request. We see ourselves as a socio-political actor and act according to our values. We therefore turn down requests if the mediation idea or the profile of the requesting entity conflicts with our values. We also reject requests whose budget does not realistically match our expectations.

Can Playing History develop analog games?

Yes, we develop analog didactic games and assist with their distribution. It is important for us to work in close partnership with you as content experts. Examples of analog titles are “Rätselräume”, ‘Wendepunkte’, ‘Stasi raus’, ‘Flieg Dino’, ‘Torfitz’.

Can Playing History develop digital games?

Yes, we develop digital educational games - so-called serious games - and provide support through their release and beyond. A close partnership with you as content experts is important to us. We can develop digital games for various end devices and application scenarios. Examples of digital titles include “Friedrich Ebert - The Road to Democracy”, ‘Hidden Codes’, ‘Autumn 89’, ‘Traces on Paper’.

Can Playing History develop games for exhibitions?

Yes, one of our main focuses is the development of games for museums and memorial sites. We develop these games from the initial brainstorming to the final publication in the room. A close partnership with you as the content expert is important to us. The use of the games in the room depends largely on your topic, the target group and the application scenario. So far, we have developed games for the following museums and memorials: Deutsches Historisches Museum, Landesmuseum Zürich, Deutschlandmuseum, DDR Museum, FEZ Berlin, Zeche Nachtigall.

Can we book Playing History for consultations?
